2011 Federal Election Comment

Thank goodness the 2011 federal election was only 5 weeks. I don’t think I could have endured another day of the left-wing news media rant against Steven Harper and he Conservatives. They ratched up the rhetoric so high there was no room for any meaningful  debate. Tories bad all other parties good. Until this election I really didn’t realize how bias the mainstream news media was against Steven Harper. CBC  had a hard time admitting that the Tories would win a majority. Not until the Tories had over 160 seats did they finally concede to the majority. It was obvious by the long look on their faces they were Liberal supporters. Gone are they days when the media just reported the news and left it up to the public to interpret.

There was also a lot of interest on how the social media would play a role in the election. Again I was shocked when I followed a few hash tags on Twitter. The utter hatred coming from the twitter mob was down right scary. I could hardly believe this was a Canadian election. Again as of the news media crowd there was no dialogue with the twitterers just hate tweets. I found if you watch the same hash tag for a while the same hate mongers keep repeating themselves. Like it was organized. I actually caught a tweet form a long-term liberal telling tweeters to keep up the good work, the message against the Tories is oozing out. The hate message really appeared to be well-organized. Obviously this tactic didn’t work since the Tories won a majority and the Liberals went down in flames. I guess when the rhetoric is so full of baloney the main stream public ignores it.

So the Tories go back to governing , the NDP get to put on their conspiracy tin foil hats as opposition and the liberals try to figure out who they really are. All’s well that ends well.
