Alberta – What happened to Our Champions?

with one comment

imageIt’s been over a year since Notley and the NDP have taken the reins of Alberta power. In this short period of time the NDP has scared investment out of the oil sands, approved a new business killer carbon tax, cancelled cheap electricity by phasing out coal-fired power plants eliminating hundreds jobs and managed to take Alberta to the highest unemployment in decades. Over the past year, 104,000 full-time jobs were lost in Alberta with Calgary leading the pack with the worst unemployment rate of 33 municipalities. Very scary indeed.  Obama said it all when he stated ‘we have enough’,meaning it’s time for nations of less to take over the lead. The provincial NDP and the federal Liberals seem to be following his lead by devaluing our way of life by slowing our growth, high taxes and running up debt. I would have thought by now the leaders of the conservative minded opposition parties would be out in force organizing mass protest to stop this Liberal/NDP madness. But there not.

With the UN Agenda 21 moving along at full speed and its federal counterpart UN agenda 2030 that just got underway in 2015 (with hardly any media coverage), Canada and the world is in the final innings to having an organization similar to the EU legal structure that was  formed December 2009 by the Lisbon Treaty with its base in Brussels. The EU community has extended powers ( The 3 Pillars) over its members (community affairs, security, police etc.) that I would expect the UN would have over us.

I’m sure we are all aware, the EU is in shambles. For all the hype building up the EU in 1993, this experiment in just 23 years has been a dismal failure with extremist immigration and bankrupt countries topping the list. This failed experiment I don’t want to see coming to Canada,  but with the liberal and NDP governments we have governing Canada it appears we are on a fast track to join the party , following the EU example.

I can’t remember how many time I’ve heard people ask why environmentalist are singling out Alberta oil sands and pipelines and leaving other country’s unscathed. We only have to look at the UN 2030 agreement 7.2 for the reason.image

The UN Goal 7 ensures access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.  A  commendable goal. However, 7.2 of this goal increases the share of renewable energy into the global mix mostly at the expense of fossil fuels. It’s now become obvious the share of renewables is at the expense of the Alberta oil sands. Alberta’s the looser.

What galls me is this was being discussed several years before it was agreed to in 2015. At the very least the PC government could have done was give Albertans heads up that the oil sands and coastal pipelines were in conflict with the UN agenda on energy. Useful information when you’re planing your careers.

UN Goal 7
7.1 By 2030, ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services
7.2 By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix
7.3 By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency
7.a By 2030, enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and advanced and cleaner fossil-fuel technology, and promote investment in energy infrastructure and clean energy technology
7.b By 2030, expand infrastructure and upgrade technology for supplying modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries, in particular least developed countries, small island developing States, and land-locked developing countries, in accordance with their respective programmes of support.

So, where are our champions? Why aren’t our Alberta politicians bringing this discussion to Albertans? Most likely many are to afraid of being called right-wing conspiracy theorists to explain how the UN policies will affect our living standards in the future. With few Alberta’s having heard of the UN Agenda’s it’s very hard to have a dialogue. This lack of public education falls on the head of the Alberta PC party who held power in Alberta for 40 years. They did nothing to educate the public. So here we stand, shocked, that Alberta is landlocked, not able to ship our oil over seas.

Today we have the Alberta politicians talking about uniting the right, unemployment, taxes etc. The usual stuff. I want more. I want our politicians to tell us what the plan is for Alberta to fit in to our new worldly environment. Albertans need this information to plan their futures.
