The Age Of Crazy

leave a comment »

We’ve¬†¬†defiantly¬†entered the¬†age of lunatic¬†politicians¬†, political parties and crazy extremists. I can’t¬†pick up a newspaper or check out¬†the news on TV without¬†being subjected to some nutcase blaming Alberta Oil for¬†the worlds environmental¬†problems¬†or¬† a crazed¬†politician blaming us for all their financial mismanagement. Its starting to get tiresome listing to individuals doing their best to divide Canada by¬†insulting Albertans with¬†their negative¬†innuendo. Unfortunately¬†for Canadians these manipulators¬†are ruining¬†our great Canadian¬†way of life for their¬†own personal agenda. What bothers me the most¬†is that so many Canadians¬†are falling¬†for their clap trap rubbish.

The PQ Party, since they won the Quebec election is the latest to bash Alberta for personal party gain. No matter that the vast majority of Quebec voters didn’t¬†vote for them, they are still pushing for seperation.Their weapon of choice, kick the federal government and Alberta in the face. The PQ must be seeing something im not. I can’t¬†see any benefit¬†for them to succeed from Canada. They have a good deal with billions in transfer payments flooding into their coffers, their own personalized¬†language laws, more benefits than¬†any province¬†in the West or the rest of Canada for that matter, yet their brain just can’t¬†grasp how good they have it. Should be interesting to watch how these loony¬†toon’s¬†blackmail the rest of Canada to have the gas pipeline reversed from Ontario to Quebec¬†to transport oil from Alberta. I’m not holding my breath.

And how about Canada’s¬†number one¬†¬†dysfunctional Leader, NDP¬†Thomas Mulcair who still thinks President Kennedy’s (35 president of the US)¬†assassination was a coverup by the US government¬†,¬†openly admires Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and ¬†questioned Israel’s validity as a country. How does this guy get votes. Have Canadians really¬†fallen that far¬†over the edge as to believe¬†his baloney. Hard work and ingenuity made Canada what it is today not Mulcair’s tin foil hat theories.

Of course we can’t¬†forget one of Canada’s all time favorite rants,¬†David Suzuki Reporting From The North Pole trying to pluck children’s¬†piggy banks for a donation to save Santa and the North Pole.¬†This has to be the all time low blow¬†, sleazy¬†solicitations ever. Are these guys that desperate for cash¬†that they have to go after little kids and ruin their christmas. Guess the grown up are getting wise to this crazed broadcaster. I expect this years christmas to be bombarded with another Suzuki rant. Cant wait.

So whats going on? Why are all these people pulling us apart and why is the main news media supporting this madness? Cant these crazies look elsewhere and see that democratic socialism and extremist have ruined their countries? The most likely answer is simply the so-called superior Liberal thinkers want to control our money (tax) and  mold us into their twisted political framework and save us from ourselves , slowly eroding our freedoms . Seeing how the NDP/Liberal socialists viciously attack and intimidate anybody with a different  view (Toronto Conservative  Mayor Rob Ford) gives me an uneasy feeling on the direction were traveling.

As far as Alberta goes, I hope we keep our Conservative values and stick together for the next Federal election. After the close by-election last week its clear the crazies are here.

Canada’s Socialist Bandwagon

Canada under the NDP

In Canada,¬†a country that prides itself on freedom and the enterprising spirit, its amazing to watch the socialist left¬†movement gain so much steam in Canada. Truckloads of leftist spewing their venomous condemnation at Steven Harper and the Conservatives. All but a few news media shouting for¬†¬†PM Harper’s head. So, whats this all about? Why is there such a hatred for the Conservative from the Socialist left? Many of the reasons seem to be to¬†push their own special interests¬†and promote their ideology. Unless you’re a member in these special interest groups there’s really¬†not much in it for you, the ordinary folk.

Since the Unions¬†are loosing members and the government is looking at new rules to allow members to opt out of the union , unions¬†are facing a massive loss of¬†¬†revenue¬†with reduced union dues being paid.¬†This is money they use to promote their own agendas¬†and donate to friendly¬†political parties that share their views. ¬†With their massive amounts of money collected from union dues, they have the means and power to change laws that benefit their special interest. It’s a¬†fight for power and money. The unions have a lot to lose. For years the pendulum has been swinging left to a point¬†where the governments and business can no longer afford their huge¬†benefit¬†and wage packages and still compete with other world countries. Its come to a point either we compete or end up like Greece and other European¬†countries. The thought of joining¬†the great european socialist dream with¬†all its perks¬†is dead and the Canadian unions are just starting to feel the pain. Socialism has¬†failed in Europe.

Like the Unions , environmentalism is big business. For years they have had the luxury¬†that few of us little folk¬†have, a¬†tax-free¬†environment for collecting donations since¬†most are considered charities. Even though it is well know they support political parties and promote their special projects, protesting governments and corporations they have been privy to the same status as a charity. This has now¬†been recognized and the rules are changing resulting in a lot less dollars in the environmentalist pocket. Bad news for the likes of Green Peace, a $200 million dollar a year business that collects millions from Canada and the Suzuki foundation. They are going to have to work a lot harder to get the same net income. They can no longer fleece¬†the taxpayers for their¬†special interest. The Conservative¬†government¬†is¬†the environmental¬†enemy. They watch the purse strings and affect the envious’¬†bottom line

The¬†left ideology¬†clearly views business as¬†the enemy. They feel that business should pay a¬†lot more than they are now¬†for social program. The people first the shareholders and risk takers¬†second. As noble as this may sound it just doesn’t work. But the battle for who controls the wealth is raging. As we have seen in Greece, the corporations have¬†been so overly taxed they can no longer function and compete in the world markets. They have been picked clean by its government always wanting more to promote their lavish promises to the¬†voters who just couldn’t¬†get enough free benefits. The parties over for Greece and is fast¬†coming to a close in Canada if we move back to the left and let them continue their spendthrift ways to control the public.

I expect all the left will be out in force in the next 2015 Federal election to regain their (our) money and power. The election will be an important turning point in the direction of Canada for a long time come. Our choice will be, a socialist NDP/Liberal government elite controlling us and our wealth or a traditional Conservative Canadian government and the freedoms that go with it.

Climate Change Denier -The Climate Is Changing

leave a comment »

(images created by Robert A. Rohde / Global Warming Art) We are in a deep freeze not global warming

If the 65 million year climate change graph where a stock chart we would have bailed out or shorted the stock long ago. Regardless what all the environmentalist say we are witnessing some of the coldest temperatures in our 65 million year history. Temperatures are only considered to be increasing if viewed for the last 150 years, from 1850 onward which is what climate change fanatics like to point to while ignoring the complete history. So , yes, you climate deniers, the climate is changing , but history suggests we are presently in some of the coolest times in history.

Looking even further back over the past 540 million years, we are actually below the average temperature(15c¬†– to cold for dinosaurs) which¬† fluctuate from around 12¬įC up to 22¬įC. The cooling periods seem to have all bottomed at around 12C. If this is the case we may be naturally headed for warmer times ahead .

540 million years of climate change and 65 million year graphs

Charging a carbon tax on CO2¬†(Alberta Oil Sands)¬†isn’t going to stop the change. It will just transfer our wealth to someone else.

In the last 4500 years there has been as many as 75 major temperature¬†swings, none of them caused by cars or big industry. As late as the 1800’s we were just coming out of the little ice age. The fact is, global warming and cooling will go on with or without man’s involvement. This doesn’t¬†mean we should go out and pollute¬†the earth, it just suggest we have very little control over the temperature.

This natural climate change also suggest that we should not be over taxing industry in the name of climate change (carbon tax). All this does is transfer our jobs and wealth somewhere else. Greece is a good example of what happens when over taxing companies that create the jobs. They¬†become less competitive¬†with the rest of the world and¬†end up¬†struggling just to stay afloat. We can’t buy into this carbon tax grab in the name of¬† global warming. All the evidence that is being presented for warming of the climate is from 1850 to today. Just a blip¬†in history.¬†Environmentalist dooms day¬†scenario¬†is purely conjecture. We will always ¬†have devastating droughts like the American dirty 30’s and catastrophic floods like in Japan in 2012¬†, the¬† Netherlands, when the North Sea storms flooded the¬†lowlands with¬†10,000 lives lost in 1916 or the¬†Huang He (Yellow) River in¬†China in 1642 with a death toll of¬†300,000. Its nothing new.

In a March 28 a letter addressed to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden,¬†a group¬† of 49 former¬†top astronauts and scientist¬†ask NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies to ‚Äúrefrain from including unproven remarks on global warming in public releases and websites‚ÄĚ because ‚Äúit is clear that the science is NOT settled.‚ÄĚ Far , far from everyone, believes in todays global warming nonsense.

Quote from letter РThe unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements

The one thing we can all agree on is that the climate is changing by looking at the millions of years of climate history. We would be more prudent to learn to work with the changing climate rather to pretend we can stop it. So Deniers, stop denying and worring about the torrential rains in China today and get with the program. With the changing climate can be opportunity.

Ship Rubber to China – Made in Alberta

leave a comment »

I can see it now, trainloads of synthetic rubber being shipped to China instead of pipelines full of bitumen. No environmental protests , no native protests, no world condemnation sounds good to me. So why is the Alberta Government headstrong on this Gateway pipeline  to ship Bitumen while ignoring all other opportunities that Alberta oil can offer? Since why back when the Alberta government has been hailing they are going to diversify Alberta but nothing every seems to come of it. Sitting on one of the freest pieces of land in the world with a great entrepreneurial spirit , Albertans should be able to come up with other ideas on how to turn our oil into usable products like rubber to ship to China to support our economy.

About 15 billion kilograms of rubbers are produced annually, and of that amount two-thirds¬†is synthetic at $150 per pound. Since Alberta has the¬†oil fields, and the styrene and butadiene¬†used in synthetic rubber can both be made from oil, it seems a natural to produce rubber and other oil related products¬†in Alberta. Synthetic rubber can tailor its characteristics to produce very specific performance so why can’t Alberta produce speciality rubbers?

I noticed in a headline that Saudi Arabian Basic Industries, the world‚Äôs largest chemical company by revenues, is to build a $3.4bn rubber production plant in the kingdom in a joint venture with ExxonMobil.¬† The Saudis say the new plant fits into a wider push by the their government to diversify the economy away from oil and create jobs ¬†and meet the growing global demand for specialty elastomers. Can Alberta’s business¬†establishment afford $3.4 billion like the Saudis?¬†Is Redford’s¬†PCs even looking into this¬†and other oil related diversification?¬†Saudis Sabic¬†often works alongside global companies. Earlier this year it announced a joint venture with China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, known as Sinopec.¬†Redford’s¬†PC should be doing the same.¬†No problem shipping rubber. It may not be that beneficial¬†for Ontario and Quebec’s transfer payment handout if Alberta diversified but it will be good for Albertans.

Alberta¬† has to move on and stop pretending that there is going to be a Gateway Pipeline¬†shipping¬†our black gold to China. BC residents don’t what to take a chance¬†on ruining¬†their coast line with oil slicks.¬†The pipelines already going through BC to the coast will most likely be the last. We need to think like the Saudi’s and move Alberta in a direction to¬†diversify our oil products.

Is a PST a Fair Tax for Albertans?

leave a comment »

Talking about introducing an Alberta sales tax is like taking a poison pill for Albertans. The cry for tax the rich is far more popular and gets a lot more votes and headline traction than any thought of a fair tax for all. The Alberta PC government also says that the Alberta tax system is fair for all, but is it?

In Alberta’s fiscal tax plan for 2012 it turns out that the bottom 50% of Alberta’s earners only pay 3% of the tax burden. Basically nothing, tax free. It also says a 2 earner family can earn up to $46,000 before paying a dime of tax. In essence¬†1/2 of Alberta earners contribute¬†not a Pennie¬†to growing Alberta, the health care system¬†or education. It’s all¬†left up to the top 50%¬†of which the top 10% pay 54% of all Alberta income tax and the middle earners pay 43%. The question is how much more can the PC government squeeze out of the top 50% to pay for its ever-increasing expense of¬†health care and education etc. With all¬†3 levels of government continually increasing taxes, and an average Canadian tax bill of over 40%, the¬†earners paying tax are getting maxed out. It’s clear that Alberta can’t just rely on 1/2 of its earners to foot the bill. All Alberta earners¬†are going to have to chip a little something into the pot to pay the expenses.

One way to do this is through a PST (Provincial Sales Tax) instead of increasing the Alberta Income Tax. Buy introducing a PST, 100% of Alberta earners¬†would pay something towards our expenses. Unlike Alberta’s¬†Liberal leader Raj Sherman’s¬†suggestion to increase tax¬†on the top 10% of earners (a popular vote getter) who already pay a huge¬†part of the tax burden, a PST will put the bill on everyone’s¬†shoulders. Those who pay nothing today will soon realize the free benefits they are getting is not free. Someone else is paying for it. The Federal government stats also show that the top 10% earners that pay federal income tax pay 71% of the total tax¬†bill and the bottom 50% only pay 2%¬†,contrary to the vote getting myth¬†the rich¬†don’t pay their fair share.

If we want¬†enterprising people¬†to come to Alberta we have to acknowledge their contribution instead of spreading rumors they don’t pay their fair share of tax and are just ripping off the little guy.

All Albertans should share in the cost of building Alberta and can do so by the way of a PST. The middle class is shrinking and the top 10% can’t support the rest of us much more than they already are. In fact they may just look elsewhere¬†to invest their dollars and talent if they get squeezed much more.
